Arts and Education Council's St. Louis Arts Awards 2007
On Monday, January 29, 2007 the Arts and Education Council celebrated their 16th Annual St. Louis Arts Awards to honor artists, organizations, educators and businesses in our community for their contributions to the arts in the St. Louis area. The event was held at The Chase Park Plaza's Khorassan Room.
The evening included cocktails, dinner and entertainment. KFUO-FM radio personality, Jim Connett, served as master of ceremonies.
St. Louis Arts Award honorees for 2007 include for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts, Mary Strauss; for Excellence in the Arts,Saint Louis Art Museum, Susan Slaughter, CarolBeth True; for Excellence in Philanthropy, Sally S. Levy; Brown Shoe for Corporate Support of the Arts; and Sr. Gabriel Mary Hoare, SL for Art Educator of the Year.
The Arts and Education Council is a nonprofit organization which raises funds from the private sector to support the arts and arts education activities in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This event kicked-off the 2006 Arts and Education Council fundraising campaign.

A world class jazz and classical pianist. Jazz and classical music teacher at Webster University and music director for a musical education program at The Sheldon.
Art Educator of the Year
SR. GABRIEL MARY HOARE, S.L.
As a teacher-artist for over 52 years, Sr. Gabe has inspired students in theatre, music and the visual arts. A noted watercolorist, serigraphist and teacher at Webster University and Nerinx Hall as well as a volunteer at the Detention Center of St. Louis.
