Logos School's Rendezvous by the River Fundraising Event at The Bluffs on Broadway
Logos School hosted a Rendezvous by the River fundraiser at The Bluffs on Broadway April 12, 2008. Logos School is an independent, not for profit, therapeutic, educational agency serving students in grades 7-12. The school is dedicated to assisting students and their families with needs that have not been met in the traditional school environment. Logos School helps students who struggle with depression, attention deficit disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, poor motivation, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance abuse and other challenges.
Since its inception in September of 1970, Logos School has graduated more than 1400 students and has helped hundreds more mainstream to traditional schools. Logos provides an intensive therapeutic program to meet the emotional and behavioral needs of their students. Logos hires only Masters-level/licensed therapists, counselors and social workers. Logos employs 13 full-time therapists. Every student is assigned a therapist upon enrollment.
The focus of the school, is hope --a belief that success is possible. Students receive individual therapy weekly and participate in group therapy bi-weekly. Parents also are involved in support groups. Students who enter Logos with significant academic deficits receive help in areas of difficulty. Consequences for unacceptable behavior are clear and consistent, and students even have the opportunity to express their side of an issue when trouble occurs.
Logos School consistently serves 150 students daily. In all, they serve approximately 250 adolescents throughout the year. Each one comes to Logos with significant problems and great potential. As they gain confidence in the program and in themselves, they begin the road to healing and success. Because of our year-round open enrollment, some graduate from Logos and others return to traditional school environments.
