Saint Louis Zoo Night at "Finale"
FINALE makes it’s second charity debut in as many nights, this time with the Saint Louis Zoo Night at "Finale," on Tuesday night, March 15, 2005. The new music and dining hot spot hosted two sneak-preview charity events, giving St. Louis’ generous philanthropic community the opportunity to be the first to discover "Finale." The evening began with dinner and drinks in the space formerly known as "Smith & Slay's." Guests enjoyed a wonderful meal right off their menus! The menu at Finale features bold and hearty flavors, prepared by nationally acclaimed chef Jeff Constance. He has honed his craft in some of the country's best kitchens including Aureole and Gramercy Tavern in New York. Chef Constance has developed a unique menu, rotating dishes which reflect the best of the season. Diners can also look forward to distinct, elegant dishes including delicate poached lobster, succulent roasted veal ribeye, seared yellowfin tuna and choice grilled tenderloin. And dessert this evening was a celebration, with chocolate concoctions including a decadent chocolate malt creme brulee. The perfect finish to an exquisite meal! After dinner, guests adjourned to the adjoining night club next door to be entertained by one of the hottest young jazz musicians in the country, St. Louis native Jeremy Davenport. Finale is the only live entertainment and fine dining destination in Clayton. The intimate 130 seat club and 75 seat restaurant are located on the second floor of the trendy Clayton on the Park Hotel (at the intersection of Bonhomme Avenue and Brentwood Boulevard). A true destination in every sense of the word, Finale provides the perfect night on the town: an intimate venue to see top national performers and a luxurious restaurant where you'll enjoy a fine dining experience. The Saint Louis Zoo has educated, entertained and earned a place in the hearts of St. Louisans for generations. With the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904, there began a long and slow process to establish a zoological park. Sure enough, local pride in the giant elliptical bird cage led to formation of a St. Louis Zoological Society in 1910. The City of St. Louis set aside 77 acres in Forest Park for a zoo and named a Zoological Board of Control in 1913. State legislation provided that "the zoo shall be forever free," which has kept the Zoo accessible to millions of visitors ever since. Events like this and A Zoo Ado and Zoofari (June 16, 2005), help support the Zoo's mission to conserve animals and their habitats through outstanding educational and recreational experiences, research and animal management.
