American Heart Association's Heart and Soul Heart Ball 2007

On Saturday, April 28, 2007 The American Heart Association held their Heart and Soul Heart Ball 2007 at The Kemp Auto Museum.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers while viewing all the fantastic silent auction items. The wonderful dinner was prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering.  After dinner there was a very lively oral auction offering trips, jewelry, sporting event and much more.  The real excitement came when it was time to pick the winning raffle ticket for the 2007 Cardinal Red Ford Mustang. The Mustang dashboard was personally signed by all the living Hall of Fame St. Louis Cardinals. Tickets were $100.00 each and only 1,500 tickets were sold.

The 2007 Heart Ambassadors are: Meilissa Warden, Tyler Jackson, Ryan Pennock, Dayshua Garnett, Chris Bay, Kirbie Brittain and Brandon Gass. 

Awarded the 2007 High D. McCulloch Medical Honoree Award was Arthur J. Labovitz, M.D., of St. Louis University Hospital.

Dr. Arthur Labovitz completed undergraduate training at Pennsylvania State University in June 1974 and graduated from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1978.  He completed his Internal Medicine residency postgraduate training at Hahnemann Medical College University Hospital in June of 1981 and did his Cardiology fellowship at St. Louis University.  He has served as Professor of Medicine since 1990, serving as the director of the echocardiography service.  Since 2000, Dr. Labovitz has served as the Director of the Division of Cardiology.  His field iof specialization includes Doppler and contrast echocardiography, valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, TEE and stroke, and intravenous beta-blocker therapy in acute coronary syndrome.

Dr. Labovitz is a Diplomate in the American Board of Internal Medicine, is board certified by the Subspecialty Board in Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology, and is a Fellow in the American Heart Association - Council on Clinical Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography.  He is the immediate Past-President of the National Board of Echocardiography.  Dr. Labovitz holds memberships in numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiolgoy and the Association of Professors of Cardiology.  He also serves on the editorial boards of multiple medical journals and a number of national committees and is the President of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Heart Association.  Dr. Labovitz has published over 440 scientific abstracts, articles and book chapters. Dr. Labovitz is listed in the Best Doctors in America in the specialty of cardiology.

The Heart Ball has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the lifesaving research and educational programs of the American Heart Association.  One hundred percent of the money raised at the Heart Ball comes back to the St. Louis area.
